CAN YOU GET ME A “GOOD DEAL”?
Maybe. But a “good deal” is often code for “bottom-dollar price.” And that’s not our focus at World on the Fly (because, all too often, you get what you pay or don’t pay for).
We prefer to focus on providing you with the best value—ensuring your money gets you the absolute best travel experience possible.
CAN YOU PROVIDE ME WITH A PRICE BREAKDOWN OF MY ITINERARY?
It depends. when working with our supplier partners, you’ll often just see one price for the entire trip. That’s because they have relationships and arrangements with their service providers that are private and confidential—we don’t have access to the price breakdown, so we can’t pass that on to you.
DO YOU BOOK AIRBNB OR RENTALS?
We do not work with AirBnB or VRBO. But - great news! - we can find you a luxury rental just about anywhere in the world, so don’t hesitate to reach out if that’s what you need.
CAN YOU BOOK JUST PART OF MY TRIP?
Generally, no. We don’t want this to end up being a piecemeal process; that creates more work and confusion for you, and we want to ensure the quality of every part of your trip.
The only exception to this is flights. If you’d like to book your flights on your own, so you can use rewards points, that’s great! We’ll work with you to make sure you’re booking a flight time that fits with your itinerary. We’ll just point out that our contracted air rates can often save you money, so you might be better off saving those points for a different trip.
WHEN SHOULD WE START PLANNING MY TRIP?
We need a minimum of two months lead time to put together your itinerary. Six-to-eight months is even better, to get you access to the best availability and pricing.
For bucket-list type trips—think a safari in Africa or a trip to Australia—at least a 9-to-12 month lead-time is ideal; these experiences book up quickly and are more complex so we need extra time to create the itinerary.
WHY SHOULD WE BOOK WITH A TRAVEL ADVISOR?
We take the headache out of travel planning. We are not a reservation system but rather travel advisors who work on your behalf to research and reserve the trip of your dreams. The rates we provide to you are never more than you’d pay to book travel independently. By booking with us, you have access to exclusive rates and negotiated perks available only to travel advisors. We’ve laid out all our benefits here to ensure you have a comprehensive understanding of how we will enhance your travel experience.
WHAT ARE YOUR SERVICES?
A typical World on the Fly vacation includes consultation, research, proposal, booking of travel components, reservation management, required entry requirements research, clear travel instructions, local contacts for support while traveling, emergency numbers that are staffed 24/7, travel insurance quotes, personal recommendations for restaurants, tours, and excursions, confirmation of any requested special services, spa appointments, etc. and often VIP services like expedited customs and immigration processing. All of the above is provided to you via an online link and within our travel app so you are never without access to your trip information.
DO YOU CHARGE A FEE FOR YOUR SERVICES?
Yes. We charge a professional fee because we dedicate hours of our time to ensuring our client’s trips are expertly planned, and monitored, and that our clients have all they need before embarking on their incredible journeys. Our fees are explained on this page and we are happy to go over them with you. Our non-refundable planning fee begins at $250 and increases based on the complexity of the trip.
DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?
Yes, we urge you to retain travel insurance for your protection against unforeseen circumstances that may force a cancellation or cause you to face unplanned expenses while traveling.
We are not insurance salesmen, we are travel advisors. Therefore, we can only offer basic information about travel insurance. We will provide you with an insurance quote for every trip we plan for you, but we suggest you call the insurance company with any questions and walk through any hypothetical scenarios to ensure you are purchasing the best policy for your vacation.
We always recommend that you check with your medical insurance to see if they provide coverage while traveling internationally.
WHAT DOES TRAVEL INSURANCE COVER?
Travel Insurance coverage options vary by provider and plan but all travel insurance covers certain types of medical problems, adverse weather, and more.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T HAVE TRAVEL INSURANCE
The events mentioned above can force travelers to cancel reservations, cut their trips short, or cause delays. When this happens, most travelers lose the non-refundable portion of their trip cost and can even face new, unplanned expenses such as the cost of an added hotel stay if your flight is canceled, or airline change fees.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CANCELLATION INSURANCE AND TRAVEL INSURANCE?
Cancellation insurance often only provides coverage against circumstances that could force travelers to cancel their trip. If you cancel within the hotel or airline penalty period, then you are facing a non-refundable loss. Having cancellation insurance covers this loss as long as the reason for cancellation is a “covered” reason.
Travel insurance is a more comprehensive product that often provides some cancellation coverage as well as medical insurance while traveling. Travel insurance also often includes coverage for trip delays, trip interruption and lost or damaged baggage.
HOW CAN I GET CANCEL FOR ANY REASON INSURANCE?
We will guide you where to purchase. Most of the travel supplier/partners we work with, provide a cancel for any reason (CFAR) cancellation insurance option as an add-on to your trip.
IF I BUY INSURANCE, WILL I GET A FULL REFUND?
It depends. The general rule is if you buy CFAR insurance from a tour operator as part of your package, and the trip is less than $10,000 per person, you will be refunded minus the cost of the insurance. Tour operators offer two types of CFAR insurance: FTC – for future travel credit, or at a higher premium, they offer a full refund to the original form of trip payment.
When you purchase insurance from a 3rd party insurance company, CFAR usually covers only up to 75% of the trip cost.
CFAR allows you to cancel prior to departing on your trip. What if something happens during travel? All insurance policies offer some coverage for “Trip Delay” and “Trip Interruption” but these are rarely for a full 100% refund of the portions lost. However, something is better than nothing as the added expenses caused by trip disruptions can quickly add up.
WHEN SHOULD I BY TRAVEL INSURANCE?
As soon as you book your trip! Even if your trip does not fall under penalty for many months after your booking date, it is better to book the insurance before you forget about it and risk losing the window of opportunity to do so. Typically CFAR insurance is due at the time of booking and additional travel insurance may be added to your itinerary at a later date.
